Bill Waltemath

Biography

Mr. Waltemath became the sixth director of the Tyler Community Band in September of 2010. Bill is in his fifteenth year of teaching and his third year as the Director of Bands for the Frankston ISD. Mr. Waltemath’s bands have consistently received first division ratings, his marching bands placed in the State of Arizona marching finals seven years in a row, and his symphonic band at Westwood HS in Mesa, AZ performed at the A.M.E.A. clinic in Tempe, AZ. In addition to being a high school band director, Mr. Waltemath serves in the U.S. Army 395th Resee Band as a tubist, and plays trombone in the East Texas Jazz Orchestra.

Mr. Waltemath graduated from Plano Senior High School where he was taught by legendary Texas music educator Mr. Charles E. Forque. Mr. Waltemath received his Bachelor of Music Education and Masters in Conducting at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX. While at WTAMU, Mr. Waltemath studied under Dr. Gary Garner, Mr. Don Lefevre, and Dr. Joseph Cox. Mr. Waltemath has also done additional study with Mr. Richard Morgan, Mr. Howard Dunn, Mr. Dennis Fisher, Mr. Tom Bennett, Mr. Ed Jones, Mr. Everette Gilmore, and Dr. Neil Humfeld. Mr. Waltemath is an active member of TMEA, TBA, ATSSB and NAMMB.
